Who We Are

Relent is a private self-reflection tool built to help you understand your emotional patterns. It is not therapy, not a diagnostic tool, and not a crisis service. It is made by Relent.

What We Collect — and Why

1. Beta Access Email Address

When you request beta access, we collect your email address. We use it for one purpose: to send you your beta invite. We will send you one email. No newsletters, no marketing sequences, no selling your address to anyone.

2. Check-In Signals (Demo and App)

When you complete a check-in, you provide structured signals — body state, emotional weather, life area, intensity level, and behavioural tendency. These are structured choices, not free-text journal entries. You are never asked to type personal information.

When AI is used to generate your reflection, it receives only these compact signals — not your name, not your history, not any identifying information. The signals are used in the moment to generate your output and are not stored in a form that identifies you.

3. Usage Data

We may collect standard technical data — device type, app version, session length, and anonymised interaction patterns — to understand how the app is used and to improve it. This data is not linked to your identity.

What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect free-text journal entries or personal writing.
• We do not build advertising profiles.
• We do not collect sensitive health data as defined under HIPAA, GDPR, or equivalent frameworks — Relent is not a medical device or health service.
• We do not use tracking pixels, third-party ad networks, or behavioural advertising tools.

How We Use AI

Relent uses AI to generate personalised session reflections — a Mirror, a Reframe, and an Anchor — based on your check-in signals. The AI receives only the structured signals from your current session. It does not receive your name, email, past sessions, or any identifying information. Raw personal words are never sent.

AI-generated reflections are offered as perspective, not diagnosis or medical advice.

Who We Share Data With

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers.

We may share data with:

• Service providers who help us operate the product (e.g. hosting infrastructure, AI API providers), under strict data processing agreements that prohibit them from using your data for their own purposes.
• Legal authorities, if required by law, court order, or to protect the safety of users or the public.

Any third-party AI provider used to generate reflections receives only the minimum signal set needed for that purpose and is contractually prohibited from storing or training on your data.

Data Retention

• Beta access emails are held until your invite is sent, or until you ask us to remove you.
• Check-in signals used to generate AI reflections are not stored beyond the session in identifiable form.
• App usage data (once the app launches) will be retained for a period necessary to improve the product, then deleted or anonymised.

Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Correct inaccurate data
• Delete your data ("right to be forgotten")
• Restrict or object to how we process your data
• Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a usable format
• Withdraw consent at any time, where processing is based on consent

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

Cookies

The Relent website may use essential cookies to make it function correctly. We do not use cookies for advertising or cross-site tracking. If we introduce any non-essential cookies in the future, we will ask for your consent first.

Children

Relent is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us at info@relent.life and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to This Policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify beta users by email and update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Continued use of Relent after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
