Safety Policy

Relent  ·  Last updated: May 4, 2026

Relent is designed for the quiet hard days — not for crisis. This page explains what Relent is built for, how we've designed it with your safety in mind, and what to do if you need more than this app can give.

What Relent Is — and Is Not

Relent is a private self-reflection tool for everyday hard moments. It helps you name what's happening, see it from a different angle, and take one grounded next step.

How Relent Is Designed for Safety

Every design decision in Relent was made with your wellbeing in mind.

We Offer Reflections, Not Verdicts

Relent identifies emotional patterns — Anxious Anticipation, Fear of Failure, Burnout, Grief, and others — and offers them gently, as a mirror, not a label. You can disagree with what Relent surfaces. A named pattern is a starting point for reflection, not a conclusion.

We Minimise What You Have to Disclose

The check-in uses structured choices, not open-ended writing. You are never asked to type out personal details or describe traumatic experiences in your own words. You share only what's needed — body state, emotional weather, life area, thought pattern, and behaviour tendency.

We Know Our Limits

The app is designed to recognise when it is not the right tool. If your check-in signals indicate serious distress, Relent will acknowledge that openly and direct you to real human support. It will not attempt to handle what it is not built for.

AI Is a Tool, Not a Clinician

The AI used in Relent generates reflections based on the compact signals you provide. It is not a licensed clinician. It does not have access to your history, your context, or any information beyond your current check-in. Reflections are offered as perspective — a way to hold the moment differently — not as clinical guidance.

No Manipulation, No Engagement Loops

Relent does not use streak mechanics, guilt-based nudges, or any design pattern intended to make you feel bad for not using the app. It is built to be useful when you need it and invisible when you don't.

Relent is not a crisis tool.
